DISCOVERIES: Alcohol

“From an awkward first date to a stiff business outing, the cocktail just lightens the mood. I honestly do not know what my life would be like without this stuff.”

While alcohol has been consumed for thousands of years already, I have only personally consumed it now for just over 15 of those. In that time, I have discovered there is nothing like a good cocktail – so many ingredients and so many combinations. Often tastier than beer and wine, it is quite easy to enjoy. In fact, cocktails are so good that they were once banned in the United States while 9-year-olds were still sipping Bordeaux in a Chateau somewhere in France. Meanwhile bacon, french fries, cigarettes and ice cream products were still heavily consumed in the U.S. Silly governors. Dating during the prohibition must have been quite an affair. Surprisingly, I will gladly dish out $20 for a drink, as long as that means the venue has kept the riff-raff at bay. I have also discovered that alcohol can bring out the worst in people. It is my personal policy to stay out no longer than 1am. It’s all downhill from there. I’ll now offer up my own sampling of recipes for 5 favorite cocktails.

Since preparing this video, I have also recently enjoyed crafting a Pisco Sour, an Irish Coffee and my own Russian Billionaire.
